Now, we’re excited to share a very special guest blog from the family as they share their top seven reasons why families will fall in love with Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino!
My idea of the perfect travel destination combines a beautiful location with fun activities, exciting new experiences and an opportunity to relax and unwind while experiencing the local culture. We recently enjoyed a family vacation at Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino and we had a fantastic time. We fell in love with the resort’s gorgeous postcard-prefect beach and with Curacao’s amazing and beautiful people and culture. These are the reasons why this family friendly all-inclusive resort is now one of our favorite vacation destinations:
A Fantastic Beach
The beach at Sunscape Curacao is one of the best and the larges resort beaches in the island and the wave breaker creates a peaceful and tranquil lagoon that is perfect for small children. The stretch of beach has soft white sand and turquoise water. There were always beach chairs available no matter what time of the day and the beach never feels crowded.
One of our favorite things about the beach was that the snorkeling is incredible! The resort is located in front of the National Underwater Park, considered one of the best diving sites in the world. There are so many fish, corals and other sea creatures and the crystal-clear water lets you see all the way to the bottom. The hotel has snorkeling gear available and my kids spent hours each day snorkeling on the beach discovering star fish, crabs and sea urchins in the corals and chasing bright colored fish.
The resort also offers kayaks, no motorized water sports and paddle boarding as well as life vests that you can use at any time.
Unlimited-Fun Activities for Everyone in the Family
When we travel we usually have to plan ahead to ensure that everyone is getting to do something they love. At Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino all we had to do was look at the schedule and everyone chose what activities they wanted to do independently and which ones we wanted to enjoy as a family.
There were plenty of events and activities all throughout the day for all ages that were very entertaining from aqua aerobics on the beach and ping pong tournaments to dance parties on the beach. I loved that some of the activities are not only fun but also give you a real insight into the local culture; there are Papiamento lessons so you can learn some basic words of the local language and a colorful and exciting carnival parade once a week.
The kids had an amazing time at the Explorer’s Club with activities catering to their age from arts and crafts to sandcastle competitions and even feeding the iguanas! Their programs are based in science, nature and exploration which means that the kids are not just having fun but also learning new things and getting to know the local culture better.
Knowing that they had such a fantastic time at the Explorer’s Club and that all the staff is Red Cross and CPR certified gave us the gift of guilt-free “grown up time” which meant I was able to spend time just relaxing with a book at the beach or enjoying a cocktail in the pool.
The resort has four swimming pools including the main pool, a quiet pool, a children’s pool and adults only whirlpool. The main pool has a pool bar where you can order delicious cocktails without getting out of the water.
And if all of the beach and water fun is not enough there is a National Geographic and PADI certified in-house Dive Center at the resort where you can book snorkeling and scuba diving trips and classes.
Nothing makes for a more relaxing family vacation that knowing that everything is paid for and you don’t have to worry about any extras. From food, drinks and snacks to entertainment Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino offers unlimited fun experiences for everyone in the family and you don’t have to worry about wearing a wrist band!
Perfect Weather all Year
Curacao has great year round weather with a yearly average high temperature of 88ºF and an average yearly low temperature for 78ºF so it’s never too hot or too cold. The island’s arid, desert like climate means that most days are sunny and there are very few rainy days.
Located on the Southern coast of the island of Curacao just 10 miles from the Hato International airport , Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino is only 2 miles from the historic city and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Willemstad. The resort offers a free shuttle to Willemstad twice daily which is very convenient and there is also a bus stop right in front of the hotel so you take a bus into the beautiful historic town.
Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino is located close to Mambo Beach, one of the best and most entertaining beaches in the island and is just a 10-minute walk from the Curacao Sea Aquarium and Dolphin Encounters which are the favorite attractions for families in Curacao. We spent the morning at the Sea Aquarium one day and had an amazing time watching the sea lion and dolphin show, learning about the local ecosystems and even feeding the flamingos!
Spacious and Comfortable Rooms
All of the rooms offer picturesque views of either the beautiful tropical gardens or the ocean. We stayed in a room in the tower overlooking the beach. The view was fantastic and when the curtains where open you felt like you were sleeping right next to the beach.
The room had a great modern and fun décor. It was very spacious and we had the best night sleep in the comfortable beds. The mini fridge was re-stocked daily with water, beer, sodas and juice for the kids and we had all the amenities we needed.
Our room connected to the kid’s room via a huge private balcony. We spent a lot of time on the balcony enjoying the view of the ocean, playing cards and games at night and enjoying snacks and fresh fruit there during the day.
Delicious Food with A View
At Sunscape Curaçao, you can choose from four a la carte restaurants, a buffet and a café. From Seafood and Italian to steak and Asian hibachi style dinner there are so many options to choose from.
I loved that most of the restaurants at give you the option to eat al fresco with a beautiful view of the ocean. And because the weather is not too hot or humid we enjoyed eating outdoors and watching the sun set over the ocean as we shared delicious food. Many of the restaurants have local dishes so you can get a taste of the amazing criollo Curacaoan cusine.
During lunch, there are special food events usually taking place near the pool or the beach with offerings that range from BBQ to ceviche. Our favorite was the paella festival; there was music, freshly made paella and delicious fruit punch right next to the pool.
All of the food was fantastic but we all had our favorite: I really loved the Bluewater Grill’s steak, always cooked to perfection and with a delicious flavor and the kids really liked Himitsu, the hibachi style Japanese restaurant which combined delicious food and entertainment as the chef cooked everything in front of us while making food art and jokes that had us all laughing nonstop during our meal.
The cocktails where a highlight during our trip, there was even a special cocktail of the day each day and they were all delicious. The kids where in love with frozen chocolate drink from the Café and with the pineapple and coconut virgin “chichi” that Norma, the bartender, prepared specially for them.
From the moment we arrived we received a warm welcome and were provided with cocktails and cool towels so we could refresh after our journey.
Everywhere we went we were greeted with smile and everyone went above and beyond when it came to great service. The staff at the restaurant was very accommodating with our picky eater’s special requests which and the kids felt at home from the first moment we got there. We felt like everyone really cared about making sure we had an unforgettable and fun time!
When choosing an all-inclusive resort having a wide array of activities and options for everyone in the family and enjoying a hassle-free vacation where you don’t have to worry about extra costs is key and Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino has it all! Both of my kids declared it the best family vacation they have ever been on and we can’t wait to go back!
